Christine Meehan is one of the four siblings that have founded Natural Health Store. Prior to this life changing event, Christine was working together with Clair, Linda and Patrick in a local health food store. “In March 2013 we were told there was going to be some redundancies and the first to go would be the manager that was Patrick. There was a big possibility one of the girls would also be made redundant. So rather than wait around to find out we faced our fears head on and decided to hand our notice in and open our own Health Food Store. On 5th December 2013 we opened our own store, Natural Health Store. In 2019 we opened a second store, and in 2021 we launched our online store.”
“As a family business our core values are Family Values. These are central to our business model. Trust, knowledge, experience, passion, compassion and customer care are also part of these core values. We believe these family values are key to the success of our business. Customers are very important to us, we provide a personal service to our customers, we build relationships with them, and they place their trust in us to provide them with the best possible solution to their health concerns. Customers value more than just monetary value. Customers value their time, they value people they can trust, they value family, they value experience and knowledge. These values are part of our core business model and the reasons why our customers come back to us again and again.”
Positive engagements and strong relationships formed over time with customers have allowed Natural Health Store to go beyond mere retail of natural health products. “Our mission is to educate our customers so that they don’t always need to visit the GP, to show them that simple changes in their diet and lifestyle and supplementation in natural remedies can help them to lead to a healthier and happier life. To switch them from thinking visit the GP for drugs to thinking visit the health food store for advice.”
As a result, Natural Health Store not only expands by opening new stores but also deepens its relationship with the customers. This personal connection to the brand alone represents a key reason for registering a trademark. A further incentive was tied to the opening of an online store. “With the launch of our online store, we realised that we maybe should look at protecting our brand. We saw that one of our major competitors had started using our name as a major part of their online advertising. We thought it was a good idea to get brand protection.”
And how was Christine Meehan’s experience with Trama? “We were looking for a quick and effective way to get the brand protection. I came across Trama through an online search and thought they offered a good service at an affordable price. The team was very efficient and easy to deal with and responded quickly to all my questions.”
